The Legend of Bridal Veil Falls from our Motorcycle Ride

We made a quick stop for a photo op while out on a several day motorcycle ride at Bridal Veil Falls in Utah.  It is located off of US189 in the South end of Provo Canyon.

T20180601_101457he Bridal Veil Falls Legend goes:
“Many moons ago, an Indian named Norita and a brave from a rival tribe, named Grey Eagle met and fell in love. They planned to meet near a streamlet high on the mountainside and elope to a land far away from both their tribes. On that fateful night, instead of her lover, Norita was confronted by braves from her own tribe. Fearing her lover had been destroyed she leaped from the high ledges.
Mother Nature was touched by her wild beauty, and she caught up Norita’s streaming tresses and made from them a Bridal Veil of falling water. From her flowing gown an alter was formed on the face of the mountain. Then her spirit was sent out as a mist, causing a green carpet to spread over the mountainside.
The intruders fled while her saddened lover stood and gazed down at the strange yet beautiful transformation. His grief was more than he could bear, so out of compassion for his sorrow, Mother Nature molded his massive frames into the mountain and stretched his mighty shoulders high into the heavens like silent sentinels to guard over his loved one. His cries of anguish were softened into love calls to whisper forever.”

It was beautiful and breathtaking and in a really neat valley which made for a great motorcycle ride.  It was a wonderful choice my husband had made to stay off of the regular quicker routes on our trip to/from Nevada & Montana so that we could experience and see more of our beautiful 20180601_1014232975246284701980158.jpgcountryside despite adding more miles and travel days to our trip (2,540 miles from start to finish).

20180601_1017102080242931141650649.jpgIt is a great spot to stop and stretch the legs for a few or to even have a picnic down below at the falls.  If it hadn’t had been for the weather rolling in we would have ventured and walked the path and got close up, maybe next time.  I am now totally in love with staying off the beaten path on two wheels unless it cannot be avoided.  I cannot wait for our next adventure.  I hope you enjoyed a little from one of our trips.

Road Trip 2016 Day 2…8/9/16

Day 2 – We left Grand Junction headed for Colorado Springs, CO via the scenic route that adds about an extra hour going through Aspen. Now we can say we’ve been to Apen. Narrow streets, tons of people everywhere even during the summer and there’s a lot of money in that town. Lots of private jets at the airport and even a Gucci store.

It is a nice and cute little town and probably fun to wander but we are on a mission to get to Colorado Springs and Aspen looks just like one of the “tourist traps” that’s a bit over priced for the average person. (Meant with no disrespect just not our thing.)

When you leave Aspen heading to Colorado Springs you get to see some beautiful mountain scenery, some streams and little waterfalls and maybe even a deer or two along the way. The pass is limited to vehicles under 35ft in length and it narrows greatly with speed limits varying but 35-40 most of it as there’s several switchbacks, turns and curves.

just a small stretch of the road

It is scenic and now we can say we’ve been through Aspen. After living in the Bitterroot Valley in Montana, and a couple years in British Columbia it was very comparable and just like back home. If you are NOT use to the Mountains, the back country…then by all means take the scenic route through Aspen as it is beautiful.

We decided it was time for lunch and found a nice place along our route. Definately recommend. Two patios one on the front off of the highway and one in the back. The Hamburgers were delicious, hand made and good quality meat not a fast food joint!! Buena Vista was the little town.

Travel and experience new things wether it’s just down the street in your hometown, neighboring towns or going cross country. There is beauty and adventures everywhere!! The world has so much to offer if we just look around and take the time to experience and see new things! Will write more in Part 2 of Day 2…..Thanks for reading my thoughts…….Robin Robinson

Road Trip 2016 Day 3…8/10/16 CO to Jacksonville, IL

Got up super early and were in the car by 5:30 am and on the road leaving Colorado Springs behind with the destination of Jacksonville, IL.  Over 700 miles to drive in one day to put us closer to our destination for the weekend.Green….Green…More Green….How many shades of green can one see in over 700 miles through Colorado, Kansas & Illinois and how many ears of corn are in an average size field?!?! Too many to count!!! If you can’t find me I’m somewhere in the corn field……LoL

When we went through Kansas
we were on the constant lookout for Toto, Dorothy and the Wicked Witch!! Luckily they were NO where to be found so the storms stayed away but somehow we never did find the Yellow Brook Road!Really NOT a whole lot to say about Day 3 as we only stopped for gas and potty breaks as we had a lot of miles to cover to get us closer to our final destination of day 4-7!! The scenery was just lots of green fields, trees and not really anything to brag about. No Mountains, no changing scenery that really even picture worthy unless I had time to stop for pictures of old buildings.

Jacksonville, IL appears to be a bit of a little bit town. For us the cell reception was almost completely obsolete and no data service available until we connected to the hotel. Now onto day 4 with a much more exciting and fun day planned once we arrive!!

If you can….Travel as often as possible, roam our beautiful countryside here in the United States, your homeland or anywhere else you can. Experiencing new things always helps me to appreciate what I already have even more, it helps me to relax a little and gives me time to admire new things and held me to reflect a little on my own life. Find your inner peace…find what truly makes you happy from the inside out….don’t get stuck or stay stuck within your little bubble….GET OUT and do some things for Yourself and experience Life before it’s too late!!! Thanks for reading my thoughts……..Robin Robinson

Road Trip 2016 Day 1..8/8/16 – Grand Junction, CO

Grand Junction, CO….Done driving for today! Talk about some beautiful scenery between Mesquite, NV and here…..Day One, sharing a couple of photos I took with my phone as the best ones are on my camera that I will have to upload later using my computer in another post.

We are driving on roads we’ve never been on before and seeing more of Gods beautiful countryside. As we have been driving around a few parts of Utah (Salt Lake & St. George), Arizona (Beaver Dam mostly) and Nevada (Mesquite, Las Vegas & Lake Mead) lately we didn’t expect to see the beautiful rocks, sand, dirt formations that we saw on this drive.
Some of what we witnessed we would have expected in a National Park. Makes us excited and wonder just how majestic the Grand Canyon will be (another upcoming road trip)!!

We used an online website and got a hotel for $55 a night that was 3 1/2 stars…..great value for the price!! If you like to travel, if you want to see new things and discover new places then go for it!! No matter what your situation is ALL things are possible….where there is a will, there is a way!!!
